This Thursday 30th May at 6.30 pm the Russian film “ The Return (2003, with English subtitles)” directed by Andrey Zvyagintsev, will be screened at Maquinez Palace.

The Return (Vozvrashchenie) marked a stunning debut for the director, Andrey Zvyagintsev, it was nominated for the Golden Globe won the grand prize at the Venice Film Festival. His subsequent films like Elena won the Jury Prize at Cannes and Leviathan won the Golden Globe and an Oscar nomination.
This film is about two young brothers who are very fond of each other. They discover that their father, whom they have never seen in 12 years, comes home one fine day and takes them on a holiday to a quiet island. At first, they are delighted to go with him, whom they have known only through a photograph but then there is an unexpected turn of events. In a 2016 BBC critics’ poll, The Return was ranked in the Top 100 greatest film of the 21st century.
