The film will be screened on Thursday, i.e 20th July at Maquinez palace, Audi I, ESG at 6:30 pm. Details as given below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Film: The Bride Wore Black (French with English subtitles, 1968)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Directed by: Fran\u00e7ois Truffaut<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Duration: 1hr 46 mins<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Long before Quentin Tarantino made Kill Bill, Truffaut directed a film with a very similar storyline (Tarantino said he never saw this film but even some of the scenes are uncanny). The Bride Wore Black itself was a wonderful tribute to Alfred Hitchcock, whom Truffaut admired greatly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Based on a book by Cornell Woolrich (Hitchcock&#8217;s Rear Window was also based on his book) Jeanne Moreau (Ebert called her, &#8220;one of the screen&#8217;s great actresses,&#8221;), plays a woman seeking vendetta. it has a rousing score by Bernand Hermann and the costumes were designed by Pierre Cardin &#8211; \u201cIn this color film, she wears only black and white; her clothes represent her absolutism \u2013 the purity of her motives, the darkness of her deeds\u201d, said Annette Insdorf in her book on Truffaut.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Cinephile Film Club of&nbsp; ESG will be screening the French film, \u201cThe Bride Wore Black (1968)\u201d, directed by Fran\u00e7ois Truffaut and starring the legendary Jeanne Moreau.
